West End – Carlyle District

Adjacent to Old Town Alexandria’s historic district is the newer part of town we call the West End or the Carlyle District.  It is more urban and commercial than Old Town Alexandria itself and is home to major employers including the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, The National Science Foundation, and the United States District Courthouse.

There’s a Whole Foods, Wegmans, many restaurants, gyms, and the King Street Metro and the Eisenhower Metro are both located within this area. There are many hotels in this area for the many visitors to the PTO and to Alexandria, VA.  Housing in this area is mostly rental apartments and condominiums. Rosemont is nearby if you are looking for larger, detached homes.
